Akka trailer: Keerthy Suresh vs Radhika Apte on Netflix
Netflix has dropped the Akka trailer, pitting Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte against each other in a women-led gangster saga premiering October 30.

Netflix has released the trailer for Akka, and it brings together Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte for a gangster saga where the real battle is not just for territory, but for a throne.
The series, produced by YRF Entertainment and written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, premieres on Netflix on October 30. It is set in the fictional kingdom of Pernuru, a world run by powerful houses where women lead from the front. That balance starts to crack when an outsider arrives to challenge a legacy that has held for generations.
Who is who in Akka
Keerthy Suresh plays Bhavani, a woman who knows what she stands for and will go to great lengths to protect her legacy. Radhika Apte plays Rudra, someone who refuses to be defined by her circumstances and is willing to challenge the established order.
At the centre of the story are two women with very different ideas of what power should look like. Bhavani is guarding an inherited legacy, while Rudra is trying to rewrite the rules. That tension, rather than a simple hero-versus-villain frame, is what could make the series feel fresh.
Describing Bhavani, Keerthy said the character’s choices are “never easy, especially when the stakes are so high.” For Radhika, Rudra is “fierce” and ambitious, a character who makes the clash feel earned rather than decorative.
The world of Pernuru
The trailer frames Akka as more than a two-woman showdown. The ensemble also includes Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar and Monica Panwar, placing the central rivalry inside a larger web of family, loyalty and revenge.
Director Dharmaraj Shetty said he was drawn to the chance to give the gangster genre “a world with its own rules” and to tell a large, entertaining saga through characters and relationships we do not often see at its centre. Netflix India’s Series Head, Tanya Bami, underlined the same shift, saying that in Pernuru, “women are not just part of the story, they are the power centre.”
Why this matters for Indian streaming
Akka extends the Netflix-YRF partnership after titles such as The Romantics, The Railway Men, Maharaj and Mandala Murders. With two female stars leading a genre that has historically been male-driven, the show gives OTT audiences a different kind of power fantasy.
It also lands at a time when Indian streaming platforms are looking for high-concept originals that can travel beyond one language market. A kingdom setting, a rivalry built on belief and ambition, and a cast that spans generations could give Akka broad appeal.
For viewers, the release date is the immediate action point:
- Watch the Akka trailer on Netflix to get the full scope of Pernuru.
- Keep October 30 free if you want to experience the season drop as it happens.
- Track Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte for more character reveals before the premiere.
As the show puts it, the one who sits on the throne is called “Akka.” Who that will be is the question the series will answer on October 30.
