Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s Cannes 2025 appearance sparked online gossip after a viral video seemed to show Janhvi ignoring Ishaan on stage. But co-star Vishal Jethwa has stepped in to clarify what really happened.
In a candid chat with Zoom, Vishal dismissed the rift rumours as baseless. “These things just get made up,” he said. “They are extremely comfortable working with each other and are each other’s well-wishers.”
The video in question showed Ishaan offering Janhvi his hand as she climbed the stage, but she didn’t take it. Vishal explained, “She was holding her dress, and I was trying to help with the trail. That’s why she couldn’t respond at that moment.”
Jethwa also addressed another viral moment where he and Janhvi were deep in conversation while Ishaan was answering interview questions. “It wasn’t rudeness. Ishaan was actually helping me understand the question, as I was struggling with the language,” he clarified.
Vishal ended by praising Ishaan as a supportive co-actor, calling him “immensely respectful and helpful.” Homebound, their Cannes-screened film, received a 9-minute standing ovation and is produced by Karan Johar. The film had earlier made headlines when its cinematographer Pratik Shah was accused of misconduct, but the team’s unity now remains the focus.
