Lata Mangeshkar, a legendary Indian singer famed for her beautiful voice, died on February 6th at the age of 92. On January 8, 2022, the musician was taken to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where he was being treated after testing positive for COVID-19.
Lata Mangeshkar’s health has reportedly deteriorated, according to reports from February 5. “Lata Didi’s health has worsened again,” a statement regarding her last health report said, according to India Today. She is staying in the intensive care unit and will be monitored by a doctor. She’s been in the hospital for the past 27 days, and her therapy is still ongoing.”
According to recent reports, Lata Mangeshkar has shown indications of recovery and has been removed from the ventilator. As per a statement published by India Today, “Lata didi is still being treated in the ICU at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. This morning, she had a TRIAL of extubation (off the invasive Ventilator). She is now showing indications of progress, but she will continue to be monitored by a team of experts led by Dr Pratit Samdani. We appreciate all of your prayers and well wishes.”
Lata Mangeshkar was regarded as one of the most recognisable figures in the music industry.
She sang well over a thousand Hindi movies and over thirty-six Indian and international languages. In 1989, she received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. She was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 2001.
Lata Mangeshkar has won three National Film Awards, as well as multiple Filmfare Awards. She was the first Indian to play at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1974.
