A case has been registered against Director Mahesh Manjrekar by POCSO

According to authorities, a charge has been filed against actor and director Mahesh Manjrekar at Mumbai’s Mahim police station for allegedly showing obscene scenes involving minors in his upcoming Marathi film ‘Nay Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha.’ Sections 292, 34 of the Indian Penal Code, Section 14 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO), and IT Sections 67, 67B were used to file the case. The lawsuit also named movie producers Shreyash and Narendra Hirawat, as well as assistant producer Jitendra Shinde.

Seema Deshpande, the head of Bharatiya Stree Shakti, a women’s empowerment organisation, filed a complaint stating that the trailer depicts sexually explicit scenes. She also complained that the language in the movie is foul.

After seeing the trailer and noticing obscene features, Deshpande filed an FIR against the film’s director at the POCSO court in Mumbai in January. On February 18, Additional Sessions judge N S Shaikh ordered Mahim police to start investigations against Manjrekar and others, based on her complaint, under Section 156 (3) of the CrPC, which permits magistrates empowered under Section 190 to order a police probe.

“My movie is censored by the Central Board of Film Certification,” Mahesh Manjrekar had earlier remarked in response to Deshpande’s complaint (CBFC). I am willing to help with the inquiry. The movie was only distributed to the public after the material was filtered. When the cops ask for the evidence, we’ll provide it to them.”
