Paraguayans

Paraguay’s folkloric traditional music includes the Paraguayans polka as well as Guarana. The Paraguayan pop music originated from polka of Czech heritage; that was performed for the first time in Asunción, on November 27, 1858.

Well with the introduction of electronic instruments and the usage of dance orchestras, new rhythms entered Paraguay inside the 1950s.

In Paraguay’s music scene, rock is indeed a prominent genre. Between 1954 until 1989, former President Alfredo Stroessner maintained a dictatorship and suppressed freedom of expression. Latin music, rock music, pop music, dance, protest song, and cumbia, among many others, were established mostly in the 1970s. Latin music, folklore, hip-hop, blues music, jazz, rock, electronic music, ethnic, reggae, and other genres are now gaining popularity.

However, rock bands Aftermad’s and Los Blue Caps were created during this period, which spanned the late 1960s and early 1970s. After Stroessner’s regime ended in 1989, a new rock scene emerged. Flou (alt-rock), Revolver (alt-rock), Ripe Banana Skins (punk), Area 69, Paiko, and The Force (slash metal) were among the new rock bands founded. Rock events such as “Pilsen Rock” and “Quilmes Rock” boost the Paraguayan rock culture in the twenty-first century.

In Paraguay, there is indeed a modest yet thriving jazz scene. In Paraguay, the Jazz Day celebration began. CCPA Jazz Quntet, Palito Miranda (alto sax), Remigio Pereira (trombone), Victor “Toti” Morel (drums), Oswal Gonzalez (drums), Riolo Alvarenga (drums), Jorge “Lobito” Martinez (piano), Carlos Schvartzman (guitar), Carlos Centurión (guitar), Carlos Centurión (guitar), Carlos Centurión (guitar), Carlos Centurión (guitar (piano).

Agustn Barrios Mangoré, José Asunción Flores, as well as Juan Carlos Moreno are indeed the primary proponents. Silva studied abroad and re-created indigenous music using European techniques inside the guarani vocal genre. Moreno composed works in a romantic classical style based on popular themes.
