Who is the most famous pop star?

pop star

From the second part of the twentieth century to the present, the following is indeed an independently confirmed list of best-selling music artists (those with claims of 75 million or more record sales). Most famous pop star only artists that claimed sales statistics can be verified using music recording certification systems (the first of which debuted inside the late 1950s) are considered.

The artists’ stated sales figures are shown with actual total independently certified units in the tables, which are arranged in descending order, with the artist with the most claimed sales at the top. If two or more artists have the same stated sales, certified units are used to rank them.

Sales of albums, singles, compilation albums, music videos, and downloads of singles and full-length albums are included in the stated sales figure and a total of certified units (for each nation) within the listed sources. The certified units column does not contain sales data such as those from Soundscan, which are occasionally reported by Billboard magazine.

The Beatles are the best-selling band in the world as of 2017, according to both sales claims and certified units. According to sales claims, Elvis Presley is the best-selling solo artist, whereas Drake is the best-selling individual artist based on certified units.

Many of the artists on this list have begun charting on official albums or singles charts, and their claimed stats are backed up by nearly 30% certified units. This really is why artists such as Cliff Richard, Diana Ross, Scorpions, Bing Crosby, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Tom Jones, The Jackson 5, Dionne Warwick, the Spice Girls, Dolly Parton, Ozzy Osbourne, Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, Gloria Estefan, and many others were left off the list. The higher in the required proportion of certified units, the more the recent the artist; its because more music markets implemented certification systems after the 1980s and 1990s.  Rihanna, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, Flo Rida, Katy Perry, Drake, Justin Bieber, Adele, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Nicki Minaj are just a few examples.
