SRK Admits Ed Sheeran’s Fast Lyrics Stumped Him in King

Shah Rukh Khan says he struggled with Ed Sheeran's fast verse in King's Tu Mil Jaaye, but he was impressed by daughter Suhana's effortless lip-sync.

SRK Says Ed Sheeran's Fast Lyrics Were Tough

Shah Rukh Khan has spent decades making lip-sync look effortless, and his skill is so well known that Alia Bhatt once took lessons from him. Yet one verse in his own film just stumped him. The actor admitted he struggled to keep up with Ed Sheeran’s rapid-fire lyrics in Tu Mil Jaaye, the first track from his upcoming action film King.

The confession did not come in a formal interview. It arrived in the comment section of daughter Suhana Khan’s Instagram video, and it quickly turned into a father-daughter moment fans could not stop talking about.

A GRWM clip becomes a family moment

Suhana shared a get-ready-with-me video as she prepared for Manish Malhotra’s Diwali bash. In the clip, she lip-synced to Ed Sheeran’s portion of Tu Mil Jaaye while her hair and makeup were being done, before a transition took her from a night suit to a red and gold lehenga.

Shah Rukh jumped into the comments with a question only a parent would ask. “How do you remember the words it was so difficult for me because Ed sings so fast!!!” he wrote. Fans immediately read it as the superstar cheering on his daughter, with many pointing out that the skill clearly runs in the family.

Why Tu Mil Jaaye already stands out

The song is more than a routine film track. It brings together Ed Sheeran, Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, a crossover that has made it a talking point since its release. Ed has said the collaboration grew from his friendship with Shah Rukh, and that he wrote and recorded his verse in one night after being introduced to composers Sachin-Jigar during a visit to the actor’s home.

Here is what the film and song look like so far:

  • Song: Tu Mil Jaaye — vocals by Ed Sheeran, Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi
  • Film: King, directed by Siddharth Anand
  • Key cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan
  • Release date: December 24, 2026

What the moment means for King

For fans, the exchange is a reminder that King carries more than action set pieces. It is Suhana’s theatrical debut after her acting introduction in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, and Shah Rukh’s return to the big screen after three years. The film also marks the sixth collaboration between Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone, so expectations are already high.

With a release date locked for December 24, 2026, every new song and candid family moment is likely to keep King in the conversation. This one did both, and it made the wait feel a little warmer.
