Himesh Reshammiya reunites with Mahesh Bhatt after 16 years

Himesh Reshammiya joins Veer Pahariya's Naam - To Live Is War as composer, reuniting with Mahesh Bhatt after 16 years. His label takes music rights.

Himesh Reshammiya and Mahesh Bhatt reunite after 16 years for Naam

Veer Pahariya’s Naam – To Live Is War has added one of Hindi film music’s most recognisable names. Himesh Reshammiya is composing the score, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively reported, and the assignment doubles as a reunion: he and Mahesh Bhatt are working together again after almost 16 years.

Why Himesh fits the brief

The film was announced in June as an intense drama, with Veer Pahariya in the lead and Varun Sharma taking on his first negative role. Recent additions to the cast include Prashant Narayanan, Vijayant Kohli and Shefali Bagga. According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the makers wanted a composer who could meet that heaviness musically.

“Naam – To Live Is War is an intense film and the makers wanted someone who could do musical justice to its subject and theme.”

The source added that Himesh liked the plot and the team’s energy, and agreed quickly. He was also drawn by the chance to collaborate with Bhatt after a long gap.

A partnership with history

The two go back further than most fans may remember. Himesh composed “Soorat Pe Teri Pyar Aave” for Footpath (2003), where Bhatt was involved as writer. In 2010, they moved even closer on Kajraare: Bhatt wrote the story and screenplay, and Himesh starred in the film while composing and singing every song.

The respect outlasted the working relationship. When Himesh’s The Xposé released in 2014, Bhatt personally called to congratulate him. Himesh later told The Times of India, “Bhatt sahab called to congratulate me and that was an emotional moment for me. His praise means a lot.”

What the music deal includes

This is not only a composer credit. The source said the film’s music rights have been acquired by Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, Himesh’s own label. That means the label will control distribution and monetisation of the soundtrack separately from the film, an arrangement the report says matches his other upcoming projects.

Himesh’s crowded calendar

The composer is lining up work across very different genres. Besides Naam, his slate includes:

  • Yeh Prem Mol Liya — Sooraj Barjatya’s next
  • Gunmaaster G9 — the Emraan Hashmi-starrer
  • Arjun Naga — Anil Sharma’s project
  • 1920: Cold Winter — Vikram Bhatt’s horror film

Naam – To Live Is War is presented by Mahesh Bhatt under Utsav Entertainment and Productions, directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, and produced by Utsav Upadhyay and Riddhi Chawda. For Veer Pahariya, it is his third release after Sky Force (2025) and the romantic comedy Prem Keetanu (2026). With Himesh on board, the soundtrack now looks like a major part of the film’s pitch rather than an afterthought.
