Gunmaaster G9’s ‘Dard E Dil’ follows Himesh’s 300M-view run

Gunmaaster G9 has a new romantic calling card. The makers have released ‘Dard E Dil’, a track that brings Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh together on screen and adds a softer layer to an action romance arriving in cinemas later in November.

Himesh Reshammiya and Akasa Singh have composed and sung the song, while Sonia Kapoor Reshammiya wrote the lyrics. The release positions ‘Dard E Dil’ as the film’s emotional centre, giving the lead pairing a musical moment of its own.

Why Himesh calls it personal

Himesh tied the new song to his recent run. He pointed out that ‘Afsaana Banaaya Aapne’ and ‘Do Do Din Ki Zindagi’ have together crossed 300 million views across platforms, with more than 150 million of those on his YouTube channel, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies.

“I am extremely happy to bring you a song that is particularly close to my heart,” he said, crediting the melody and Sonia’s lyrics for making the track feel special.

A hook with a family connection

Director Aditya Datt said the song carries an extra layer for him. The mukhda and hook line remind him of his grandfather, late lyricist Anand Bakshi, and the iconic ‘Dard-E-Dil Dard-E-Jigar’ from Karz. He was quick to clarify that the compositions are different, but the personal memory makes this one more meaningful.

Producer Deepak Mukut added that ‘Dard E Dil’ was designed to give the film a warm romantic dimension rather than simply soundtrack an action beat.
