Hollywood actor Brad Pitt will revive Facility Miraval, a famed recording studio. The venue has deteriorated, but just a substantial refurbishment will have it ready for just a new generation of superstar performers by the summer of 2022. Rock legends such as Pink Floyd, AC/DC, and The Cure would travel to a 900-acre estate near the French Riviera inside the late 1970s and 1980s to record historic albums.
The recording studio was founded in 1977 by Jacques Loussier, a French jazz pianist who wanted to establish his ideal studio. This was in service until around 20 years ago when its analogue technology became obsolete and its structures fell into ruin.
According to a storey inside The Hollywood Reporter, the studio will soon rise once more after two decades of inactivity. Studio Miraval is comprised of three homes situated within a winery estate, where musicians resided while recording, having a break to recharge inside a swimming pool. All of their meals would’ve been prepared by a live-in chef. The studio was 3,000 square feet in size, with such a 650-square-foot control room. Pitt and his then-partner Angelina Jolie bought the renowned resort in 2012, which is known inside the music industry for conjuring up all kinds of creative alchemy.
The couple paid $60 million to buy an entire estate after leasing this for four years. In 2014, they married in Miraval’s 13th-century church, which was once a Templar barn, and hosted guests inside its 30-room manor house, which was erected in 1841. However, Pitt, who divorced Jolie in 2016 and so now owns the estate, dividing the wine business well with the Perrin family, is supervising a stunning makeover of Studio Miraval. Which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2022.
Pitt enlisted the services of Damien Quintard, a 30-year-old music engineer based in Paris who already has collaborated with Brian Eno as well as Gaspard Augé of the French techno group Justice as well as helped build the Dolby Atmos system.
Pitt suggested a meeting in 2020. According to Quintard, “He (Pitt) came to my studio in Paris. It was a fantastic meeting. We talked for hours and hours. He talked to me about his plans for Miraval. I was obviously super excited because as a Frenchman and a music lover, one of the Holy Grails is Miraval. I went over there, did my design for the space. We clicked on that side, and we moved forward.” The new Studio Miraval, according to Quintard, would be far more than just a high-end recording studio.
“We want to produce a variety of projects over there,” he adds, citing cinema, drama, and fine arts as examples. Studio Miraval would be available to everyone major recording labels whenever it opens in 2022.
