Puttanna Kanagal helmed and Virendra Sinha produced Zehreela Insaan, a 1974 Indian Hindi-language romantic movie. Rishi Kapoor, Moushumi Chatterjee, Neetu Singh, and Pran appear in the movie. It’s an adaptation of Kanagal’s original Kannada film Naagarahaavu, which has been focused on three Kannada novels by T. R. Subba Rao: Nagarahavu, Ondu Gandu Eradu Hennu, as well as Sarpa Mathsara. Although the movie did not work well towards the box office, the track O Hansini became a hit.

The plot of the movie ‘ Zehreela Insaan ‘-

Arjun is indeed a man with a terrible temper however a sweetheart. He is constantly placed in circumstances where others perceive him to be a horrible guy.

Arjun’s instructor, whom he refers to as Masterji, is the only one who understands him and respects his positive traits, therefore he totally obeys his demands. Arjun has feelings for a lady called Aarti and wishes to marry her, however, Aarti’s father rejects the union and forces her to marry a guy of his choosing. Arjun is depressed, but Margaret, a Christian college classmate, quickly becomes his love interest. He eventually gets beyond Aarti and commits himself to Margaret. Arjun discovers Aarti has become a prostitute while out on a work trip to some other city. Arjun is enraged and annoyed, and he is in a pitiful situation. Margaret’s mother and brother are opposed to her getting married to Arjun.

Masterji pursues Arjun and Margaret towards the hills, but he fails to soothe him instead and throws him down a steep hill to his death. Arjun, traumatised by his teacher’s death, begs Margaret whether she would accompany him wherever he goes; she agrees, as well as the two plunge to their deaths.

Production-

Zehreela Insaan is an adaptation of the Kannada movie Naagarahaavu from 1972, which was based on three distinct books by T. R. Subba Rao: Nagarahavu, Ondu Gandu Eradu Hennu, and Sarpa Mathsara. The Kannada film’s director, Puttanna Kanagal, returned to helm the Hindi adaptation, which has been produced by Virendra Sinha underneath the banner of Pragati Chitra International.

Sudarshan Nag was in charge of cinematography, and V. P. Krishna had been in charge of editing. In Zehreela Insaan, Ambareesh repeated his character as Jaleel, a character he performed in Naagarahaavu. In Naagarahaavu, the instructor wore a white dhoti, black coat, and Mysore turban, while being in Zehreela Insaan, the very same figure wore a kurta-pyjama and a Nehru jacket. Chitradurga was used extensively inside the movie, also with the track “O Hansini” having filmed at Chitradurga fort.

The Soundtrack

R. D. Burman created the music for the film, whereas Majrooh Sultanpuri wrote lyrics. The tune “Saanp Se Badhke” is modeled here on Naagarahaavu tune “Haavina Dwesha.”
