Will there be a Zootopia 2? – Tap to read complete details about it

The animated Disney movie “Zootopia” grossed over $1 billion at the box office in 2016. The movie went on to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film there at the 2017 Oscars shortly after. So, even though it’s been a few years, many fans believe a sequel — and at the very least, some sort of continuation of Zootopia 2 — would be in the works. And besides, why don’t Disney would like to keep a popular property going?

The very first film followed rookie police recruit Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), a rabbit who relocates to Zootopia from her tiny village in the hopes to make a change. Judy’s developing friendship with Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a fox con artist that hustles her, is subsequently documented in “Zootopia,” which eventually becomes her entrée into a case that may make or destroy her reputation. Judy has actually joined the ZPD there at end of the movie, despite her supervisor’s reservations regarding having a rabbit just on the force, and Nick has completed the academy becoming an officer himself – and also Judy’s companion. The film also makes a message about stereotyping that stays with the audience long after credits have rolled.

The Zootopia universe will be revisited in a forthcoming sequel series.

Let’s start with the positive news. For many of those worried that such a world is over, Disney confirmed during an Investor Day presentation in December 2020 (via Screen Rant) that “Zootopia” would be renewed – in TV form, on Disney+.

Around 2022, the series “Zootopia+” will premiere on the streaming platform. The programme will centre on a small cast of core characters, including Flash (Raymond S. Persi), the popular sloth DMV worker from the film Zootopia 2, who will be joined by arctic shrew Fru Fru (Leah Latham), the crime boss’s pregnant and recently-married daughter.

Mr Big, and also Gazelle’s backup dancers, a tiger-themed troupe. It’s a fascinating cast of memorable secondary characters, all of whom would be fleshed out more in the series. Trent Correy, who worked as just an animator just on film, and Josie Trinidad, who acted as both a writer, will helm “Zootopia+.”

Then there’s the bad news. Again for time being, little about a big-screen sequel has been announced.
As per Movieweb, reports arose in 2019 that now the late Tommy “Tiny” Lister told a fan at a meet & greet that two sequel films have been in development. Disney, on the other hand, has never verified or disputed this data.

Ever since, no progress on every successor project – besides the series — has been made, and so far as we know. It’s difficult to say if the Disney+ series replaced a movie trilogy or even that the show’s concentration on supporting characters means Judy and Nick will be preserved for a full-fledged sequel. For the time being, though, that’s just speculation: until further information becomes available, it’s difficult to say whether a motion picture “Zootopia” sequel would be in the pipeline.
