Shershaah
The audience is impressed by Sidharth’s portrayal of Captain Vikram Batra in both his professional and private relationships. The biographical war movie, directed by famous south cinema filmmaker Vishnuvaradhan, tells the tale of Captain Batra’s life and how he led his soldiers into battle during the Kargil conflict in 1999. He was subsequently given the prestigious wartime heroism honour, the Param Vir Chakra. It’s definitely a must-watch Bollywood movie.
Shershaah was due to hit theatres last year, but a coronavirus-induced lockdown caused theatres to close, postponing its debut. It was pushed out to early 2021, however, it was subsequently revealed that the film will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
In an interview with Filmfare, the actor revealed that his grandfather served in the army and wore the uniform with pride. He says, “One more similarity between Vikram Batra and my family would be that my Dadu was in the Indian Army. My dad went into the Merchant Navy after wondering whether to join the Indian navy. Vikram Batra was deciding whether to go in the army or the Merchant Navy at the start of his career. My Dad especially got excited to see me in uniform.” He’s excited to watch how the Batra family reacts, particularly Vikram’s twin brother Vishal, who is also played by Sidharth in the film.
Kiara Advani concurs, claiming that their film would bring viewers closer to a piece of recent history. “This is one way of paying homage to Captain Vikram Batra in an entertaining way and also making people aware of the war and of everything that took place at that time.”
