The Power of Love
The Power of Love, which was premiered at the Ambassador Hotel Theater in Los Angeles on September 27, 1922, was the first confirmed 3D picture viewed to an out-of-home audience. Harry K. Fairall, the film’s producer, and cinematographer Robert F. Elder collaborated on the camera setup. It was shot in dual-strip black and white, with single-strip colour anaglyphic release prints made on a colour film created and patented by Harry K. Fairall.
The 3D version of the film is considered lost. Later, the picture was re-released in 2D as Forbidden Lover. This two-dimensional form is likewise thought to be lost.
The plot of the film states that considering his financial difficulties, Don Almeda pledges his daughter Maria to Don Alvarez. Maria is in love with Terry O’Neal instead of Don Alvarez. He’s a stranger who was injured by thieves linked to Alvarez and subsequently takes Alvarez’s place at a masquerade ball. Alvarez robs an elderly priest of some pearls and stabs him with O’Neal’s dagger, accusing him of murder.
