In the last week, I’ve been on the lookout for Indian Bangla Movies that will guarantee me bliss. I also watched movies that I hadn’t seen in a few years. I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I have and take a trip through into the City of Joy via your television screens.
Maach Misti and More (YouTube)
With drawings of Kolkata featured in the titles, the film would make any Bengali nostalgic from the start. Throughout, it is a homage to the city. The film delves into a number of clichés connected with the city and its culture, including prejudice towards Marwaris, NRIs returning to India, and aspiring actors looking for a break. Interpersonal relationships among family members are entwined with this. Throughout the movie, three brothers with some very different aspirations come to understand the significance of joy and affection. Soumitra Chatterjee portrays their loving grandpa, who not only serves as the movie’s narrator and establishes the mood. The tunes, whose lyrics were created by deceased filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, do as well.
Bhooter Bhabisyot (Disney+ Hotstar)
The horror-comedy is much more humorous than scary, and it’s a total joy to see. This is a must-see on every Bengali feel-good movie list. It contains some of Bengali cinema’s best-known faces, including Parambrata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, and Saswata Chatterjee. The movie was praised because of its clever and satirical comedy, and the show’s originality. This movie will want you to split every moment you see it, no matter how much time you see it. If you don’t speak Bengali, you could miss a few of the dialects and subtleties of the language, and this one will keep you entertained.
Bibaho Diaries (Disney+ Hotstar)
Ritwick Chakraborty has mastered the character of the man that spends his life off of the beaten path time and time again. He portrays a down-on-his-luck theatrical performer in Bibaho Diaries, who finds love with such an independently wealthy lady from a wealthy family. Money and parental approval are also concerns that come up frequently. The movie portrays how such a modern-day Kolkata pair cope with everything. Is their devotion capable of standing up to the challenges? The movie is filled with hilarious and poignant moments, as well as the love storey is incredibly realistic. The song has been one of the movie’s strengths, and it serves as that of the ideal backdrop for seeing the two characters learning to construct a house alongside.
Haami (Disney+ Hotstar)
This movie transports you towards the universe of 5-year-olds, who really are blissfully oblivious of the complexities of adult acts and motions. Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, a filmmaker team, are recognised for producing socially important movies that are equally enjoyable. One of their most famous flicks is Haami. Although in the conclusion, Bhutu and Chini’s lovely friendship triumphs, even as fathers were educated seeing the universe via nonjudgmental eyes. It is one of the best Indian Bangla Movies to watch on the small screen.
Ghare and Baire (Amazon Prime Video)
It isn’t always simple to acknowledge you’ve found true love, especially if you’ve known one other since childhood. You’ll quarrel, divide, and be egocentric, but utter these three words and all will be OK. That would be the predicament of the characters in Ghare and Baire, a delightful love storey about two childhood friends that adore one other but are unable to acknowledge it. When one departs the city, the egos battle becomes so intense that it nearly divides them for life. As the primary couple, Jisshu Sengupta and Koel Mullick are hilarious, and their love-hate relationship would recall you of the childhood connection as well as the joy of pointless arguments with your closest buddy.
