What are all the Marvel characters MCU owns rights?

Marvel Studios, LLC (formerly Marvel Films from 1993 to 1996) is an American film and television production business owned by Walt Disney Studios, a branch of The Walt Disney Company. Marvel is best known for producing the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, which are centered on characters from Marvel Comics.

Marvel Studios too was engaged in the development of many other Marvel-character movie franchises that already have grossed more than $1 billion in North American theatres, such as the X-Men and Spider-Man multi-picture franchises.

Upon its merger with Marvel , Marvel is now developing television programmes for Disney+ as well as managing introduction for the surviving Marvel Television shows.

Beginning with that the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Daredevil, as well as later Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, the Wasp, Black Widow, Luke Cage, Punisher, Blade, Ghost Rider, Man-Thing, Black Panther, as well as Deadpool, Marvel licenced out the movie rights to most of their characters to certain other studios inside the 1990s.

In February 2015, Marvel Studios as well as Sony Pictures Entertainment revealed that Spider-Man would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, well with character first making an appearance in Captain America: Civil War as well as Spider-Man: Homecoming, directed by Kevin Feige and produced by Pascal, hitting theatres on July 7, 2017.

Sony Pictures will continue to fund, distribute, own, as well as retain ultimate creative control over the Spider-Man pictures as parts of the pact. Feige confirmed in June 2015 that perhaps the original Sony arrangement did not allow Spider-Man to participate in any of the MCU television shows since it was “quite detailed… with such a limited amount of back and forth permitted.”

In September 2019, Disney and Sony revealed that they had struck a deal that would allow Spider-Man to participate in a third solo movie as well as a future Marvel picture. In the new arrangement, Disney is said to be co-financing 25% of the picture in exchange for 25% of the movie’s revenues, while keeping the character’s merchandising rights.
