Vikram: All you need to know about this upcoming Tamil Language movie

Vikram

Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote and directed Vikram, which is being produced by Raaj Kamal Films International. Shivani Narayanan, Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Antony Varghese, as well as Arjun Das play supporting parts inside the movie, which also stars Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil. Anirudh Ravichander created the soundtrack and film score, alongside Girish Gangadharan handling photography and Philomin Raj handling editing.

Although the movie’s official title teaser (published 7 November 2020) featured a remastered edition of a 1986 movie’s theme music, the movie is not really a sequel to the 1986 film version.

Anirudh Ravichander created the music and background score for the film, which is his second collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Kamal Haasan after Master and Indian 2. A remixed version of the theme tune from the 1986 film of the same name was used in the movie’s official title teaser (issued 7 November 2020).

Lokesh Kanagaraj opted to make the picture into a two-part franchise because he believed that the plot, characters, and environment would evolve as the tale progressed and that this could not be accommodated in a two-hour movie. He intended to make a sequel to this picture, comparable to the Karthi-starrer Kaithi, at the end (2019).

The first film of the two-part series will be released in theatres in 2022. Goldmines Telefilms sold the Hindi dubbed version of this film for Rs 37 crore (US$4.9 million). The film was dubbed “the hottest in the trade” by many industry insiders.

Kamal Haasan’s production firm Raaj Kamal Films International has engaged Lokesh Kanagaraj to helm a movie for such a studio around November 2019. He had previously expressed his appreciation for Kamal Haasan’s work, stating that two of both the actor’s movies, Sathya (1988) and Virumaandi (2004), had inspired him to pursue a career as a filmmaker.

Despite reaching an agreement on conditions, the filmmaker, as well as the studio, chose to prioritise obligations for those other movies before starting production. In December 2019, Lokesh presented Rajinikanth with the planned movie’s screenplay. Thalaivar 169 was the planned name for the project, which was set to begin in March 2020.

Despite progress in talks, the COVID-19 epidemic forced the release of the movie to be postponed.

Lokesh announced a fresh project in September 2020, with Kamal Haasan inside the starring role. The official poster for the movie, which has the working title Evanendru Ninaithaai, was unveiled on September 16, 2020.

Anirudh Ravichander scores the music for his movie Vishwaroopam (2013), and so it includes Anirudh Ravichander teaming with Kamal Haasan and Lokesh for the second time following Indian 2 and Master. The crew shot a promotional movie trailer in Chennai in October 2020, following the Indian government’s COVID-19 safety requirements. The creators announced the title teaser of both the movie, starring Kamal Haasan, on his 66th birthday, November 7, 2020, wherein the title of the movie was revealed to be Vikram, a repetition of a previous movie featuring the actor that was released in 1986.
