The partnership between the Hindi and South cinema industries appears to be growing. Varun Dhawan and Atlee are planning to collaborate on a thriller film, according to a recent report in ETimes. While no official confirmation has been made, the article claims that the project is Atlee’s own film Theri.
Vijay and Samantha Ruth Prabhu appeared in the 2016 drama thriller. The rumour is that Atlee will direct the Hindi adaptation, with Varun Dhawan as the front-runner. “Varun has met Atlee and they will soon be working together on the Hindi adaptation of a South film,” a source told the newspaper.
It’s possible that the film will be ‘Theri,’ starring Vijay and Samantha.”
Varun Dhawan was contacted for a remake of Theri a few years back, according to reports. It appears that the plan is coming together.
Atlee is now collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan on a project. Varun Dhawan, on the other hand, has a packed schedule for the next two years. The actor will appear in two films in 2022: Jug Jugg Jeeyo and Bhediya. Varun Dhawan is set to feature in a Rajkumar Hirani film, according to Bollywood Society.
“Varun has done multiple meetings with Rajkumar Hirani over the last few months and both have shown keen interest in the collaboration. It’s a typical slice of life film based on a true story written by Rajkumar Hirani himself and will go on floors in 2022,” a source had told Bollywood Society in December.Â
Varun is also in negotiations for an out-and-out action thriller helmed by Mohit Suri, in addition to Hirani’s next. Sriram Raghavan’s Ekkis are also in his kitty. Phew! That’s a jam-packed schedule!
