Udta Teer Set to Close India Run at Rs 45.50 Crore
Trade estimates put Udta Teer's final India cume at Rs 45.50-46 crore; a near-50% week-two drop and Ramayana's arrival cut its run short.

Udta Teer is wrapping up its theatrical run, and trade estimates now point to a final India cume of Rs 45.50 crore nett. The Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan starrer, directed by Aakash Kaushik, has been classified as a flop by box-office trackers.
The run began with Rs 3.75 crore nett on opening day. It built to about Rs 30 crore in week one, enough to suggest some initial interest. But the second week told a very different story.
How the run shaped up
- Opening day: Rs 3.75 crore nett
- Week one: roughly Rs 30 crore nett
- Week two: Rs 15.20 crore nett, a drop of almost 50 per cent
- 14-day cume: Rs 45.20 crore nett
- Expected final: Rs 45.50 crore to Rs 46 crore nett
The arithmetic after fourteen days is straightforward: around Rs 30 crore from the first week plus Rs 15.20 crore from the second gives Rs 45.20 crore. Once Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana entered cinemas, Udta Teer’s showcase was trimmed to about 200 shows. Thursday added only Rs 20 lakh, and trade watchers expect the film to accumulate barely another crore from this point.
Why the second-week drop matters more than the opening
In box-office tracking, the second week is a crucial hold test. A near-50 per cent fall from week one signals that the initial curiosity did not convert into sustained demand or strong recommendations. Pinkvilla lists mixed word-of-mouth as one of the core reasons for the underperformance.
Pinkvilla also notes that, without Ramayana, Udta Teer might have reached around Rs 50-55 crore. Even that higher number would not have changed the commercial verdict. The film also closed lower than Ayushmann Khurrana’s last release, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.
What film fans and trade watchers should take from this
Star pairings can create sampling, but the conversation after the first weekend decides everything. When word-of-mouth is mixed, a major competitor can quickly take those screens away. That is precisely what happened here.
The box-office figures are subjective trade estimates based on advance trends, show counts and market sentiment, not final production accounts. The exact number may settle a little higher or lower, but the direction is unlikely to shift: Udta Teer is closing its India run around Rs 45.50 crore with a flop tag.
