The King song shoot moves to Mumbai from October 26, marking Deepika Padukone's return to sets and the sixth SRK-Deepika collaboration.

SRK and Deepika shoot King song in Mumbai from October 26

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are returning to a Mumbai set. Their upcoming action entertainer King will shoot a large-scale song from October 26, with choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant leading the number, according to a Variety India report cited by Bollywood Hungama.

The sequence is expected to be filmed over about a week in the city. Earlier reports had pointed to South Africa for the track, but the latest update says the makers have decided to keep it in Mumbai, where preparations are already underway.

A home-ground spectacle

The report calls the song a “major sequence” in the film, and says extensive arrangements are being made before the cameras roll. A Mumbai schedule keeps one of King’s biggest musical moments close to home, and pushes the production into an execution phase as the release window approaches.

The shoot is also a milestone for Deepika Padukone. It marks her return to the sets after she and Ranveer Singh welcomed their second daughter, Devi Padukone Singh.

Pairings with a strong record

King will be the sixth on-screen collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Their previous titles show how much range the pairing has covered:

  • Om Shanti Om
  • Chennai Express
  • Happy New Year
  • Pathaan
  • Jawan

From a reincarnation romance to two large-scale action films, the duo has repeatedly been a commercial centrepiece. Vaibhavi Merchant adds her own history to the sequence: this is her eighth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, following their recent work on Jawan.

The bigger King picture

Directed and co-written by Siddharth Anand, King has assembled a wide ensemble: Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal, with Abhay Verma also attached. Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand produce under Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures.

The film is targeting the Christmas 2026 window, where it will line up against Jumanji, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune 3. Facing that slate, King will need a long promotional runway, and a grand song sequence is one of the clearest ways to keep the film in the conversation.

What to keep in mind

Big-film logistics shift quickly. The South Africa-to-Mumbai reversal is a useful reminder to treat early location chatter as directionally interesting but not final. Fans should watch official updates from Red Chillies and the film’s team for confirmed dates, cast appearances and release news.
