Spider-Man: No Way Home causes a ruckus in advance ticket sales

Spider-Man: No Way Home has wreaked havoc just at the box office, well with a picture already competing in advance booking sales with historic blockbusters as Baahubali 2, Avengers: End Game, Sultan, as well as War. Ever since debuting of Avengers: End Game in April 2019, the picture has amassed the most advance for a movie in India, and according to our estimations, the three major national chains – PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis – have sold over 4.75 lakh tickets. The estimated revenue of advance tickets sold at national chains is Rs. 16.50 crores, which is more than the combined opening day gross of five major Bollywood blockbusters – Bell Bottom, Bunty Aur Babli 2, Satyameva Jayate 2, Antim, and Tadap.

To be clear, we’re only talking about the movie’s advance booking, even if it is in three large chains, as opposed to the total India collections of the aforementioned Bollywood blockbusters. By Wednesday evening, the opening day totals of the aforementioned five movies, plus Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, will have surpassed the opening day totals of these three franchises. And so this says a lot well about the euphoria that Spiderman is causing in theatres. The movie has reintroduced audiences towards the theatres in a big way, as well as the anticipation for it is the strongest for such a feature picture in India since Avengers: End Game. There are still one and a half days for the movie to sell more advance tickets, although by the end of Wednesday, one expects a ticket sale of 7 to 10 lakh at national chains, putting up an earth-shattering advance booking figure in excess of Rs. 24 crores, making this one of the highest in Indian cinema history.

This Spider-Man: No Way Home is doing well in all markets, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, and Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala within the south. Spiderman’s advance booking reaction has been HISTORIC, as well as the movie has already produced MAYHEM there at the box office in India, months before its debut. There have also been reports of server problems from a variety of regions as a result of high traffic upon that websites.

Approximately 2.90 lakh tickets have been sold in advance for such opening day, Thursday, with the remaining seats distributed well over the weekend. Spiderman is on track for a record-breaking opening of Rs. 30 crore net on such a working Thursday, indicating that audiences are prepared to leave their homes to see a movie here on the big screen if the material is compelling enough.

This Spider-Man: No Way Home has outperformed all expectations regarding pre-booking, and all eyes are on an opening day when it is expected to overtake Sooryavanshi also as the largest opener of 2021 in Hindi belts. And, amazingly, this really is happening despite a limited release on about 2400 screens, proving once again that screen count has little impact on box office revenues. We had also given the reason for only certain movies suffering due to the Maharashtra 50 per cent occupancy cap or even the Covid fear in recent weeks, but now comes a Hollywood movie to debunk all myths as well as send out a message loud and clear: create a major movie, and there is enough ability even in just 2500 screens to keep putting up an earth-shattering opening of Rs. 30 crore or more.
