Shamna Kasim opens up about her Jailer 2 dance cameo in Ala Bolelo, thanking Nelson and sharing why the Rajinikanth moment felt personal.

Shamna Kasim: Jailer 2 Cameo Was a Moment She Never Expected

Shamna Kasim opens up after Jailer 2 release

Shamna Kasim is celebrating a full-circle moment. The actor appears in Jailer 2’s special song “Ala Bolelo,” sharing the frame with Rajinikanth and Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu, and she waited until the film was in theatres before speaking about it publicly.

“Everyone would like to share screen space with a style icon such as Rajinikanth sir. I never thought that I would have that opportunity,” she said, adding that Padayappa is among her favourite Rajinikanth films.

The people behind the cameo

Kasim credited director Nelson Dilipkumar for putting her name forward for the song. “I must thank Nelson sir a lot, because he pitched me for the song,” the actor revealed.

She also thanked Sun Pictures and composer Anirudh Ravichander, whose music powers the sequence, and said she wanted to see how audiences responded before expressing gratitude.

  • Appears in the “Ala Bolelo” number, a large-scale musical set piece.
  • Credits Nelson for recommending her for the cameo.
  • Thanked Sun Pictures and Anirudh Ravichander for the production and music.

Why a brief cameo matters

For an actor, a short appearance in a star-led commercial film can still carry weight. It places Kasim inside a visible theatrical release, alongside one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated stars, and gives her work a wider audience than a smaller project might.

Kasim’s comments make the stakes personal. “I never thought that I would be able to do such a good song for three minutes in a big project such as this,” she said.

She added: “We all say that our hard work, prayers, and passion would pay off one day. I am going through such days.”

The sequel’s bigger canvas

Jailer 2 reunites Nelson and Rajinikanth after the 2023 hit Jailer, and the follow-up brings a wider ensemble while keeping the director’s mix of action, humour and music. The “Ala Bolelo” sequence gathers several performers and a large team of background dancers, giving the cameo the scale of an event song.

For Kasim, though, the most rewarding part has been the theatre response. She described the audience’s reaction as the moment years of effort seemed to be paying off, and she framed the cameo as both a professional credit and a personal milestone.
