Rogue Squadron, Patty Jenkins’ upcoming Star Wars picture, would make a few diversions on its way to cinemas. The picture was supposed to start production in 2022, but even that date has been pushed back, potentially jeopardising the film’s December 22, 2023 release date.
The Hollywood Reporter said that Rogue Squadron has indeed been delayed, citing schedule issues Howard Jenkins as that of the reason. The production of Rogue Squadron has indeed been cancelled by Disney.
Rogue Squadron was indeed the space opera’s maiden big-screen appearance until Disney as well as Lucasfilm finished up the Skywalker family’s nine-film storey with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Ever since, Lucasfilm had focused more on expanding its Star Wars streaming options, including the Disney Plus smash The Mandalorian as well as a forthcoming series in which Ewan McGregor reprises his legendary role as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The streamer will launch Book of Boba Fett in December, as well as a series centred on Ahsoka, a spinoff starring Rosario Dawson, who played the character in The Mandalorian.
Lucasfilm is indeed working on Indiana Jones 5, which had been recently postponed due to Harrison Ford’s shoulder injury.
Patty Jenkins is widely recognised for her work as the director of Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984. She’s set to oversee the third instalment of the DC Films franchise.
Jenkins too was connected to a Paramount drama about Cleopatra, which was set to feature her Wonder Woman co-star Gal Gadot. Jenkins previously directed Monster, which earned Charlize Theron an Academy Award nomination.
