Ramayana pre-sales jump 27% in US, touch ₹25 crore worldwide

Advance bookings for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part One are moving again a week before the film opens worldwide on November 5. After a strong start on Dussehra, the pre-sales slowed — but the Los Angeles premiere has given the campaign a second wind, particularly in North America.

What the LA premiere changed

According to Sacnilk, paid previews in North America jumped from $631K to $800K in the 24 hours after the premiere. That is a 27% jump in collections for the previews, which are scheduled for November 4, a day before the global release. The film has also grossed $500K for the release day from overseas territories.

The combined effect pushed Ramayana‘s worldwide advance booking to ₹25 crore by October 29, with a full week still to go before the first show.

India’s ₹15-crore advance, language by language

At home, the film has sold 2.75 lakh tickets in advance, touching ₹15 crore. Hindi remains the engine of that total, contributing 83% and holding more than 1,600 screens. Other language versions are opening at different speeds.

  • Kannada: just over 100 screens, crossed ₹2 crore, with some centres reporting up to 80% occupancy for morning shows.
  • Telugu: around 20 screens so far, nearing ₹50 lakh.
  • Tamil: about a dozen screens opened in the last 48 hours, barely crossing ₹4 lakh and selling fewer than 2,000 tickets.

Since several non-Hindi versions still have limited screens, the domestic figure is likely to keep shifting as more shows open through release week.

The larger picture

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part epic. The first part releases in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with a worldwide IMAX run. The second part is set for Diwali 2027.

The film is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. It stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. Sony Pictures will handle global distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions will distribute the Hindi-speaking market.

What to watch next

The next checkpoint is November 4, when paid previews begin in North America. For Indian audiences, the focus is on how quickly Kannada, Telugu and Tamil screens expand before November 5. The early Kannada traction — crossing ₹2 crore on just over 100 screens — suggests the southern versions have room to grow once screens are added.
