Ramayana Part One tops Rs 111 cr global presales before release

Ramayana Part One has collected an estimated Rs 111 crore in global pre-release ticket sales, evenly split between India and overseas markets.

Ramayana Part One crosses Rs 111 cr global presales

One day before it reaches cinemas, Ramayana: Part One has already put together a nine-figure global advance. The Ranbir Kapoor and Yash epic crossed Rs 111 crore in worldwide pre-release sales by end of Tuesday, according to trade estimates collated by Pinkvilla.

A Rs 111 crore global head start

That Rs 111 crore figure is almost evenly split. India has contributed roughly Rs 57 crore gross (about Rs 48 crore nett), while international markets have added around Rs 54 crore, or USD 5.70 million. With one full day of bookings still to go before release, the tracker expects a late surge that could take the worldwide advance toward Rs 150 crore, and perhaps beyond it.

  • Worldwide advance: Rs 111 crore approx by Tuesday night.
  • India: around Rs 57 crore gross / Rs 48 crore nett.
  • Overseas: USD 5.70 million (about Rs 54 crore).
  • Hindi opening-day sales: Rs 17.50 crore nett as of Wednesday morning.

India is solid, but the Diwali calendar is a factor

In the home market, the movie is working against pre-Diwali softness. The Hindi version had banked about Rs 17.50 crore nett for day one by Wednesday morning. Sales are spread across the weekend: Saturday has already picked up, Monday is building strongly, and the five-day advance total in India currently sits near Rs 40 crore nett.

The dubbed versions tell a more mixed story. The Kannada cut is leading, helped by Yash’s home-state pull, and Pinkvilla notes it is already tracking as the biggest opening day on record for a Kannada dubbed film. The Telugu version could have been healthier, but many locations have yet to open their advance sales.

Pinkvilla’s opening-day projection is Rs 55-60 crore nett in Hindi, plus roughly Rs 15 crore nett from dubbed versions. Because Diwali vacations and rituals move demand around, the next five days will likely seesaw rather than grow in a straight line. Monday is expected to be the high point once Hindi circuits return in full force after the festivities; the tracker says that Monday number will decide the film’s trajectory.

Overseas, a place among Bollywood’s best starts

The United States is the standout overseas market. It has already contributed USD 3.20 million for the weekend, which makes this the second-best US presales ever for a Bollywood film, behind only Dhurandhar: The Revenge and more than double the levels of Jawan and Pathaan. Other international markets were tracking at similar strength a week ago but have cooled slightly and now run level with, or narrowly behind, those blockbusters.

As a result, the global opening weekend is still expected to land above USD 20 million. The original ambition was likely higher, around USD 25-30 million, given the scale and Sony’s marketing spend.

Read the number, not the noise

There is one caveat for fans tracking the figures in real time. Some online numbers look bigger because they scrape ticket-booking sites, include blocked seats and price tickets at face value; that is not how box office is measured. Pinkvilla’s Rs 111 crore advance is a collections-based estimate, and it cautions that all presale and projection figures remain trade analysis rather than final certified numbers.
