Ramayana Part I Tops Rs 215 Crore Worldwide in Two Days

Ramayana Part I crosses Rs 215.73 crore worldwide in two days; a 27.89% Friday drop means Saturday and Sunday now hold the key.

Ramayana – Part I crosses Rs 215 crore worldwide in two days

Ramayana – Part I has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark globally in just two days, but the way it got there is as important as the milestone itself. The Ranbir Kapoor and Yash mythological epic reported a worldwide gross of Rs 215.73 crore after its Thursday, November 5 release, with the opening-day rush doing much of the heavy lifting.

A two-day total built on a huge first day

The film opened with Rs 125.10 crore gross worldwide on Thursday. India contributed Rs 75.26 crore gross of that first-day total, while overseas markets brought in Rs 49.84 crore gross.

Friday added another Rs 90.21 crore gross worldwide, taking the reported two-day total to Rs 215.73 crore. Here is how the first two days break down:

  • Day 1 worldwide gross: Rs 125.10 crore
  • Day 2 worldwide gross: Rs 90.21 crore
  • Overseas share after two days: Rs 85.24 crore, or 39.51%

Overseas markets are doing nearly 40% of the work

Of the cumulative global gross, India has generated Rs 130.49 crore while overseas territories have added Rs 85.24 crore. That puts the international contribution at about 39.51%, or nearly Rs 40 of every Rs 100 earned worldwide.

That overseas number stands out because it shows the film is not leaning only on the domestic market. The combination of familiar mythology, scale and a star-driven cast has pulled in substantial opening business beyond India, giving the film a second revenue engine.

Friday slowed in both India and overseas

The second-day numbers are still massive in absolute terms. At the same time, worldwide collections fell 27.89% from Thursday to Friday—a broad-based dip rather than a one-market problem.

In India, Friday collections dropped to Rs 45.84 crore nett (Rs 55.23 crore gross) from Rs 62.47 crore nett on Thursday. Overseas collections slipped from Rs 49.84 crore to Rs 34.98 crore gross, a 29.82% decline.

Part of this can be explained by front-loading: a Thursday release benefits from advance bookings and audiences who want to see the film on day one. Whether demand rebuilds after that first wave is now the real question.

Saturday and Sunday hold the key

Because the film opened on Thursday, it has an extended four-day opening weekend. The Rs 215 crore-plus start is a headline achievement, but the next two days will indicate whether audiences are sticking with the epic after the initial rush.

If Saturday and Sunday grow again, the Friday dip will look like a natural cooling-off. If they stay flat or slide further, the conversation around the film’s box office will shift quickly.
