Ramayana: Part 1 trailer sets up Ranbir vs Yash face-off
The international trailer for Ramayana: Part 1 has arrived, showcasing Ranbir Kapoor's Lord Rama, Yash's Ravana, and a global IMAX release plan.

The first international trailer for Ramayana: Part 1 has arrived, and it immediately sets up the film as a global big-screen event. Unveiled in Bengaluru on October 15, the preview launched Sony Pictures’ worldwide campaign for Namit Malhotra’s two-part adaptation of the Indian epic.
Director Nitesh Tiwari was joined by Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Ravi Dubey and composer A. R. Rahman for the event, hosted by Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
What the international trailer reveals
The nearly two-and-a-half-minute trailer opens in a mythic age where deities and humans share the world, with Kunal Kapoor appearing as Lord Indra. The story then shifts to the rise of Yash as Ravana, who declares, “Before me, every head will bow.”
Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama is presented as the counterweight to that arrogance. His line, “If I don’t stop him, the world will fall,” sets up the film’s central battle against tyranny. Sai Pallavi appears as Sita in quieter glimpses, while the preview leans into large-scale combat, ancient architecture and atmospheric landscapes from visual-effects house DNEG. The score by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman adds to the trailer’s sprawling fantasy tone.
Who is in the frame
- Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
- Sai Pallavi as Sita
- Yash as Ravana
- Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman
- Directed by Nitesh Tiwari; produced by Prime Focus Studios, DNEG and Monster Mind Creations
Why the global push matters
Sony Pictures is handling distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions will release the film in the Hindi-speaking market. That split signals how seriously the project is being positioned for international audiences. Instead of a domestic release with overseas screens added later, Ramayana: Part 1 arrives as a coordinated worldwide event.
The film will open in IMAX and in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam across India. For fans, that means the story of Rama and Ravana is being scaled for premium formats and multiple linguistic audiences at once.
What comes next
Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled to release worldwide on November 5, 2026. The second instalment is slated for Diwali 2027. With the international trailer now out, the campaign has a clear centrepiece: the visual scale, the Zimmer-Rahman score, and the face-off between Ranbir’s Rama and Yash’s Ravana.
