Ramayana Sells 1 Lakh Pre-Sale Tickets in National Chains

Ramayana has sold about 1 lakh pre-sale tickets in national chains by Monday afternoon, pointing to a career-best opening for Ranbir Kapoor and Yash.

Ramayana Pre-Sales Hit 1 Lakh Tickets in National Chains

The first advance-booking checkpoint for Ramayana is in, and it is just enough to get trade conversations started. As of Monday at 2 PM, the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash film had sold approximately 1 lakh tickets across the national chains PVRInox and Cinepolis. It is a healthy early number, but the market is not calling it a bumper start yet.

Why the opening-day math is shifting

The 1 lakh pre-sale count matters because it arrived before the main booking wave. Trade expectations are that the real rush will begin in the second half of the week, when release-day promotions and audience urgency kick in. For now, the figure is an early temperature check on the film.

For both leads, the advance trend points toward a career-best opening day. In Hindi, their earlier films Animal and Toxic opened around the Rs 50 crore mark. Ramayana is now being measured against that benchmark, with a chance to move past it if the next few days pick up pace.

The Rs 60 crore target and the 5 lakh question

The next milestone is sharper: around 5 lakh tickets sold in national chains for opening day. If Ramayana reaches that level, a start north of Rs 60 crore is in play. To push past Rs 70 crore, the film will need non-national chains to move as well.

The film is also chasing the first-day benchmark of Dhurandhar 2, though the pre-Diwali window adds friction. That timing is one reason the trade is treating that particular target as difficult at this stage.

  • 1 lakh pre-sale tickets sold in national chains by Monday at 2 PM.
  • Career-best opening signal for Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, above the Rs 50 crore Hindi mark.
  • Around 5 lakh chain tickets could set up an opening north of Rs 60 crore.
  • The first four days may be moderate, with Monday onwards becoming the real content test.

Why the Monday after release will decide the run

One of the more encouraging signals in the advance data is that sales outside the opening day are also healthy. That usually suggests wider interest beyond a front-loaded fan rush. Still, the trade expects the first four days to possibly fall short of expectations because of the pre-Diwali factor.

The real game, then, begins on the Monday after release. If the film connects with audiences, word of mouth could stretch its run well beyond the opening weekend. For fans, the next two checkpoints matter: the second half of this week for pre-sales, and the first Monday after release for staying power.
