Premada Oorali grosses Rs 103.50 crore in 29 days
Kannada film Premada Oorali collected Rs 2 crore on its fifth Friday, pushing its 29-day India gross to Rs 103.50 crore and eyeing a Rs 125 crore finish.

Kannada cinema’s quiet juggernaut just got louder. Premada Oorali collected Rs 2 crore on its fifth Friday, taking its India theatrical total to Rs 103.50 crore gross in 29 days, according to trade estimates tracked by Pinkvilla.
That single Friday was around 40 per cent lower than the previous Friday, but the fall says less than the fact it is still earning at that level a month into its run.
A start almost nobody noticed
The story is in the contrast. On day one, Premada Oorali opened below Rs 10 lakh. Five weeks later, one Friday is worth Rs 2 crore. Nearly all its collections are coming from Karnataka, which makes the run a regional blockbuster rather than a pan-India event inflated by other markets.
For anyone who follows Indian film as a habit, this is the rare run that flips the usual box-office logic. A big opening buys a film its first weekend. Word of mouth buys it the weeks after. Premada Oorali had almost no first-weekend cushion; every crore since has been earned by audiences telling other audiences to go.
- 29 days: Rs 103.50 crore gross in India
- Fifth Friday: Rs 2 crore, down 40 per cent from last Friday
- Day one: under Rs 10 lakh
- Potential full run: around Rs 125 crore if the hold continues
Why Rs 125 crore would rewrite the list
If the film finishes near Rs 125 crore, it would enter the list of Karnataka’s biggest Kannada grossers ever. Pinkvilla projects it as the fourth-highest Kannada film in the state, behind a club that includes Kantara Chapter 1, Kantara, and KGF Chapter 2.
For Sandalwood, as the Kannada film industry is known, the run is also a timely bounce-back. After a high-profile misfire with Toxic, a small film turning into a Rs 100-crore-plus hit restores confidence in what strong word of mouth can do without the cushion of a large opening.
The weekend will tell us more
A Rs 2 crore Friday is a good platform, but the real clue comes from the weekend that follows. If the film holds its screens and adds strongly on Saturday and Sunday, the Rs 125 crore range starts to look reachable. If it merely treads water, the final total will settle in the low hundreds.
For fans, the next two weeks are the simplest test: keep booking the shows. A film like this does not get another first weekend; it earns its final number from repeat viewing and from the audience that finally catches up after hearing about it for a month.
We will be watching the weekend pace more than the milestone itself, because that is where a word-of-mouth hit shows whether it has true stamina.
