Yami Gautam’s Nayyi Navelli Falls 55% on Day 6, Tops Haq

Yami Gautam's horror comedy collects Rs 1.25 crore on Day 6, a 55% fall, but its 6-day total of Rs 19.25 crore nets past her last film Haq.

Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli drops 55% on Day 6

Yami Gautam Dhar’s new horror comedy Nayyi Navelli is showing the classic signs of a film that opened to curiosity but is now losing steam. On its sixth day in cinemas, the film added Rs. 1.25 crore nett, a sharp 55 per cent fall from Tuesday’s number, according to trade tracking cited by Pinkvilla.

That takes the film’s six-day India cume to Rs. 19.25 crore nett. In box-office terms, the number is both a milestone and a warning: it has already matched the lifetime collection of Yami’s previous release, Haq, but the rate of decline suggests the film may not go much further.

Where the numbers stand

Here is the picture after six days, based on trade estimates:

  • Day 6 collection: Rs. 1.25 crore nett
  • Day-on-day drop: 55 per cent
  • Six-day total: Rs. 19.25 crore nett
  • First-week projection: Rs. 21-22 crore nett
  • Lifetime projection: Rs. 30-40 crore nett

A mid-week tumble, not just a Tuesday

A 55 per cent drop on the first Wednesday is steep by regular box-office standards. Weekday collections typically fall after the opening weekend, but a slide of this size usually indicates that word-of-mouth is not converting casual viewers into repeat or mid-week audiences.

It is the kind of pattern that makes the next few days crucial. If the film does not stabilise on Thursday and rebound over the second weekend, its lifetime gross is likely to stay within the Rs. 30-40 crore band that current trade projections point to.

Small consolation: ahead of a rival and past Haq

The report notes two silver linings. Nayyi Navelli is performing better than its rival release, Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam, and it has already matched the lifetime business of Yami’s last theatrical film, Haq, in just six days.

But the comparison cuts both ways. Haq itself was not a high bar, and crossing its lifetime quickly does not change the larger trajectory. The latest projections still place Nayyi Navelli in flop territory, continuing a tough run for Yami Gautam Dhar at the box office.

What the film is about

Set in Meerut, Nayyi Navelli follows a troubled household whose fortunes change after a mysterious new bride arrives. Her seemingly miraculous abilities bring peace and prosperity, but her presence soon raises suspicions: some believe she has supernatural powers, while others suspect she could be a witch.

The cast includes Yami Gautam Dhar alongside Adinath Kothare, Mita Vashisht, Sonal Jha, Sunita Rajwar, Rajesh Dubey, Aaditya Kulshreshth and Prateek Pachauri. The film is directed by Balaji Mohan.

For fans who follow Yami Gautam Dhar as closely as her films, this is a sobering pattern. An actor’s box office track record affects the scale of future theatrical bets, the screens she can command, and the kind of scripts that come her way. No single film decides that, but consecutive under-performers add up.

These are trade estimates rather than final certified figures, so the final numbers may shift slightly. But the direction is what matters for the industry: a steep first-Wednesday fall rarely reverses into a strong lifetime run.
