Karan Johar as well as Kartik Aaryan had such a major falling out earlier this year, and their collaboration, Dostana 2, was put on hold despite filming for more than half of the movie. Soon thereafter, Karan as well as his production company, Dharma Productions, hinted that the picture will be completely remade, with another prominent star taking Kartik Aaryan’s place.
“There was widespread speculation that Dostana 2 would be fully reshot with minor screenplay changes. There was also rumours of Karan Johar contacting Akshay Kumar, a close friend of his, to fill Kartik’s shoes. Nevertheless, there is indeed a strong rumour circulating within the business that Dostana 2 has been fully shelved “a source inside the industry told us.
According to the source, Karan has handed new projects both to Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya and is collaborating with Akshay Kumar on an upcoming movie called Selfie. “He attempted to rework the movie, but when it took longer than intended, he chose to put Dostana 2 on hold entirely. Janhvi is currently working on a project with Sharan Sharma, while Lakshya is working on a project with Shashank Khaitan. But on the other side, Akshay collaborates with Raj Mehta. And with that, Karan has quietly tucked Dostana 2 away on the shelf, expecting that it would be released at some point in the future “Added the source.
And what about Kartik? “Well, Kartik had passed on such a long time ago and is currently busy with projects such as Shehzada, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Freddy, and Captain India, among others.”
