Jailer 2 Sets Tamil Record with ₹710 Crore in 11 Days

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has crossed ₹710 crore gross in 11 days to become Tamil cinema's biggest film ever, with Day 11 adding ₹25.70 crore net.

Jailer 2 becomes Tamil cinema's biggest film ever with ₹710 crore

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has become the highest-grossing film in Tamil cinema history, crossing ₹710 crore gross worldwide in just 11 days. The milestone means the Nelson Dilipkumar-directed sequel now sits at the top of an all-time list that has never been claimed this quickly by a Tamil title, according to trade reports cited by Bollywood Bubble.

The number behind the record

Day 11 gave the film another strong push. As reported by trade website Sacnilk, Jailer 2 earned ₹25.70 crore net in India across 11,954 shows. Tamil screenings contributed ₹17.35 crore from 5,683 shows. Telugu added ₹4.50 crore from 1,860 shows, Hindi brought in ₹3.15 crore from 4,195 shows, and Kannada collected ₹70 lakh from 216 shows.

The India total now stands at ₹398.70 crore net and ₹466.85 crore gross. The worldwide gross of over ₹710 crore is what makes this a historic run.

Why the language split matters

The day-wise breakup tells the real story behind the record. A Tamil film is no longer limited to one territory when it opens this wide.

  • Tamil is the engine: ₹17.35 crore net from 5,683 shows, the biggest share of Day 11 demand.
  • Telugu is efficient: ₹4.50 crore from 1,860 shows, a strong per-show return.
  • Hindi adds scale: ₹3.15 crore from 4,195 shows, expanding the film’s footprint beyond the South.

That four-language presence is why a regional record can now turn into a pan-India event.

The team behind the spectacle

Jailer 2 is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures. Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik reprise their roles, while S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan join the cast. Cameos from Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff, Vijay Sethupathi, Vinayakan and Vasanth Ravi make the sequel feel like a festival release.

Bollywood Bubble’s four-star review credited the film for “mass action, superstar charisma and theatrical excitement,” alongside Anirudh Ravichander’s energetic score and the star cameos.

What to watch next

The record is new and the film is still running. The next stretch will show whether Jailer 2 extends its lead at the top of the all-time Tamil chart or settles close to its current mark. Trade watchers will track the Tamil-versus-dubbed share, because that split reveals where the demand is strongest now that the opening wave has passed.
