Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has opened like an event. The film grossed roughly Rs 124 crore worldwide on its first day, according to trade estimates reported by Pinkvilla, combining about Rs 67 crore from India with USD 6 million (approximately Rs 57 crore) from international markets, including North America previews.
That day-one figure puts Jailer 2 third on the all-time Kollywood opening day list, behind Coolie at around Rs 151 crore and Leo at Rs 143 crore.
Overseas is the real story
The international number was better than the advance trends promised. Pre-sales pointed toward a USD 5 million first day, but walk-up business pushed the overseas total past USD 6 million. The Middle East and the United States led the way.
That is immediately ahead of the original Jailer, which opened to USD 4.70 million internationally on its first day in 2023. The 2023 film went on to collect USD 15 million across its opening weekend and closed its overseas run at USD 23 million.
