Jailer 2 Nears Rs 600 Cr Worldwide After Rs 374 Cr India Week

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has turned its first extended week into a Kollywood record. Pinkvilla’s trade tracking places the film at approximately Rs 374 crore in India after eight days, the biggest extended opening week ever for a Tamil film. The previous high belonged to 2.0, which collected around Rs 365 crore back in 2018.

Thursday added roughly Rs 18.50 crore, a drop of about 40 per cent from the day before as the holiday boost began to normalise. The hold is still strong enough to keep the sequel on an all-time trajectory.

The worldwide crown is within reach

Overseas collections have contributed about USD 22 million, or roughly Rs 209 crore. That takes the global total to approximately Rs 583 crore.

The film is expected to cross Rs 600 crore worldwide today—and by Sunday could become the highest-grossing Kollywood film of all time worldwide. For fans who follow the star as closely as the film, the record chase is no longer a question of if but when.

Territory by territory

Jailer 2 is not just piling up a big total; it is doing it across markets that matter:

• Kerala and Karnataka: Already the highest-grossing Kollywood film ever in both states.
• Telugu states: Currently third behind 2.0 and Jailer, with a real chance to overtake both and become the first Kollywood title to cross Rs 100 crore there.
• Tamil Nadu: Around Rs 139 crore so far, the third-best eight-day total after Leo (Rs 173 crore) and The GOAT (Rs 142 crore), with a stronger trend than both at the same stage.

The Tamil Nadu race is the one to watch

The home-state comparison is the most intriguing. Jailer 2 is trending ahead of Leo and The GOAT at the same point in the run, which suggests it should at least pass The GOAT. Catching Leo’s Rs 173 crore eight-day number is possible but not guaranteed, since The GOAT enjoyed an unusually strong post-opening run.

What is clear is that Jailer 2 will cross Rs 200 crore in Tamil Nadu and enter the state’s top four grossers. Its final position in that list should become clearer over the next week.
