Hanuman Ansh Closes Historic Run at Rs 439 Crore Worldwide
The Neem Karoli Baba devotional drama is set to close near Rs 439 crore worldwide after an Rs 8 lakh day-one opening, with a sequel in the works.

A devotional drama that opened to just Rs 8 lakh on its first day is finishing as one of Indian cinema’s most profitable theatrical stories. Hanuman Ansh, directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and built around Neem Karoli Baba, is heading towards a final worldwide gross of Rs 439 crore, according to Pinkvilla’s trade tracking.
The final lap in numbers
The film has already spent 81 days in cinemas and is no longer chasing big single-day jumps. In Week 11 it collected close to Rs 2 crore, which made it the fifth-biggest Week 11 of all time. That is more impressive because the film had already set all-time records from Week 5 to Week 10, a sign of unusually long legs rather than a front-loaded run.
In the first four days of Week 12, Hanuman Ansh added Rs 50 lakh, lifting its Hindi cume to Rs 317.90 crore nett. Pinkvilla expects the film to add about Rs 1 crore more this week and then close the Hindi market around Rs 319-320 crore nett.
- Hindi nett: Rs 317.90 crore after 81 days, with a projected finish near Rs 320 crore
- Telugu version: around Rs 4 crore since its release a few weeks ago
- Overseas gross: more than USD 5.4 million, roughly Rs 51 crore
- Worldwide gross: Rs 439 crore as the run winds down
Why an Rs 8 lakh opening matters
The worldwide number is not just a total; it is the distance between Day 1 and the finish line. A first-day collection of Rs 8 lakh is modest for a theatrical release, and the fact that this film multiplied that many times over signals word-of-mouth, repeat viewing, and a hold on family and faith audiences. Pinkvilla described the result as a “miraculous figure” for a film that started so small.
For an industry usually obsessed with opening-day records, Hanuman Ansh is a reminder that longevity can be more valuable than a big first weekend. An eleventh weekend that ranks among the all-time best is rare; most films burn out long before then.
Gross vs nett: reading the split
The Rs 439 crore worldwide number is a gross figure, while the Rs 317.90 crore Hindi cume is nett. In simple terms, the Hindi nett reflects the domestic share after entertainment tax and other deductions, while the worldwide gross adds the Telugu version and overseas earnings. That is why the two totals look different: one is a domestic nett measure, the other is a global gross figure.
The overseas number, more than USD 5.4 million, converts to around Rs 51 crore gross, which shows international audiences also gave the drama room to run.
What happens now
The film is expected to play in select centres till Diwali and retain a few screens for 100 days or more. A sequel is already in the works, which turns the box office success into a franchise. For audiences, the story closes with a simple takeaway: a small start did not stop Hanuman Ansh from becoming one of the most profitable Indian films on record.
