Shabana Azmi

In R Balki’s underproduction Ghoomer, which also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, the formidable Shabana Azmi plays a woman who loves cricket. The latter portrays a young cricketer, while the former serves as her coach.

Abhishek had previously worked with filmmaker Balki on the amazing Paa, in which he played his own father, Amitabh Bachchan (no, that’s not a typo). Saiyami’s grandma is played by Shabana Azmi, who has never worked with Balki previously. Shabana, a cricket fanatic, encourages Saiyami to pursue her ambition of becoming a national cricket champion, much to the chagrin of those close to her.

As we witnessed inside the back-to-back online series Special Ops, Choked, Breathe, and Unpaused, Saiyami is indeed a natural-born athlete as well as a talented actor.

Saiyami has represented Maharashtra in cricket there at the school level. The actor was selected for the national squad but instead chose to compete inside the badminton state championships.

R Balki and Abhishek had collaborated on Paa (2009). Dasvi is indeed the actor’s next film after Bob Biswas. He additionally appears inside the Hindi adaptation movie Oththa Seruppu Size 7 (Oththa Seruppu Size 7).

Saiyami also appears in Tahira Kashyap’s Sharmaji Ki Beti and Ashiwny Iyer Tiwary’s Faadu, in addition to Ghoomer. In the new season of Breathe: Into The Shadows, she will appear with Abhishek. Highway, in which she co-stars Anand Deverakonda, is also in the works.
