EXCLUSIVE! Chitrangada Singh Gets Candid: “Not Every Glam Moment is Objectification”

by Ratan Srivastava

In a world where cinema and scrutiny walk hand in hand, Chitrangada Singh offers a powerful perspective on the ongoing debate around the objectification of women in Hindi films.

Speaking EXCLUSIVELY to the Movified team, the actress was honest, grounded, and deeply thoughtful:

“Har tarah ki films banti hain. Jab woh unnecessary ho, intention filmmaker ka galat ho and it makes the audience uncomfortable that’s when I feel it’s wrong.”

She acknowledged the fine line between celebration and commodification:

“If we start labeling everything songs, dance, glamour as objectification, then that’s also unfair. Helen ji, Parveen Babi, Zeenat Aman, Mumtaz they’ve done iconic numbers! Sometimes, it’s just celebrating feminine beauty. Why not? Why shy away?”

The takeaway? Not every sparkle is shallow. Not every dance is demeaning. Cinema is layered and so is womanhood.
