Drishyam 3 opening weekend hits ₹176.5 crore

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 has turned its opening weekend into a box-office event. The crime thriller, released as Drishyam The Conclusion, stood at ₹176.5 crore net in India by 10 PM on Sunday, according to trade figures cited by Hindustan Times.

Opening weekend at a glance

The film opened on October 2 with ₹62 crore net, the fourth-biggest opening day for a Hindi film. Saturday stayed strong at ₹53.50 crore, pushing the total past ₹100 crore. Sunday gathered pace again and crossed the ₹150 crore mark before settling at ₹176.5 crore.

The signs were visible before release. Drishyam 3 recorded the fourth-highest advance booking for an opening day by a Hindi film, sold 13 lakh tickets in advance, and crossed ₹50 crore in advance sales for the opening weekend.

Sunday’s momentum was visible on the ground too: morning shows recorded around 42% occupancy across India, with several tier-2 and tier-3 centres reporting even higher numbers.

Which recent hits it has already passed

The speed of the opening weekend means the film has leapfrogged several notable lifetime totals in just three days:

  • Sikandar – ₹107 crore lifetime
  • The Raja Saab – ₹138 crore lifetime
  • Shaitaan – ₹144 crore lifetime
  • Awarapan 2 – ₹150 crore lifetime

It has also overtaken War’s ₹166 crore opening weekend in the all-time Hindi weekend rankings.

Where it sits in the record books

The biggest weekend marks remain far ahead: Dhurandhar 2 at ₹443 crore, Jawan at ₹286 crore and Pathaan at ₹280 crore. Drishyam 3 is now set to pass Sultan’s ₹180 crore. The next hurdles, Animal at ₹202 crore and Stree 2 at ₹204 crore, may be just beyond its reach.

Why the franchise moment matters

This is the concluding chapter of a series that has steadily built a loyal audience around Vijay Salgaonkar’s story. The cast brings back Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant, with Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj joining the ensemble. Abhishek Pathak writes and directs.

The opening frame suggests audiences were waiting for the payoff — and turned out in numbers big enough to put the film among Hindi cinema’s strongest theatrical weekends.
