Deadline is indeed a psychological horror movie directed by Sean McConville as well as featuring Brittany Murphy and Thora Birch that was released on DVD in 2009.

Alice Evans (Brittany Murphy) is working on a script that she hasn’t finished because of a mental breakdown following her lover, Ben, who attempted to murder her. With the script deadline looming, she takes a producer friend’s offer to just let them stay inside a Victorian-style property he recently acquired so that she can concentrate on her work. Her friend Rebecca (Tammy Blanchard) grudgingly agrees as well as departs her there when she insists on remaining alone.

Alice starts hearing weird noises inside the house and believes it is haunted by the spirit of a dead lady. She starts examining the house as well as discovers a collection of videotapes inside the attic starring Lucy and David Woods, a mysterious young couple (Thora Birch and Marc Blucas). The videos begin with the couple happily discussing their new baby and their home life together. Nevertheless, as the cassettes go, David becomes increasingly troubled. Despite Lucy’s assurances that she has never been with somebody, he develops persuaded that she has been seeing another and that now the baby may not have been his.

Ben attempted to drown Alice inside the bathtub, much the same as David Woods. She made it out alive, however, the baby was lost. That’s why Alice has such a strong bond with Lucy.

She begins by seeing Lucy Woods’ spirit wandering about the house. Whenever Alice gets to the very last recording, she discovers that David drowned Lucy in the tub before hanging himself. After afterwards, Alice receives a call from Ben, who expresses regret for what he has done to her. During the conversation, Alice notices a shadow in the home and suspects Ben is inside with her, and that he is to blame for everything that has occurred while she was there, although he maintains he is in Boston with his mother.

Alice is still terrified and begins to flee, but she watches the conclusion of the film, which shows David Woods escaped his hanging because his mother intervened just in time. David, as well as Lucy, are then reported missing by his mother. Inside the home, Alice comes into contact confronts David Woods. He refers to her as “Lucy” as well as believes she is his wife. He captures her and attempts to drown her inside the bathtub, but he was also interrupted by the spirit of his deceased wife, Lucy, who stands behind him. He is just so terrified that he falls backwards so over stair railing as well as perishes. The water from the bathtub is now let out by Lucy’s spirit, saving Alice’s life.

Rebecca returns later as well as discovers Alice still babbling about just the ghost inside the tub. Rebecca lifts her from the tub, and while she dries her off, she discovers the screenplay which Alice has already been working on for the past few days. She realises it’s really the exact tale Alice has already been giving her, word for word; and it is now evident that what Alice witnessed was always in her imagination. Rebecca immediately tells Alice that she’ll never leave her alone again as well as puts alice to bed. Rebecca descends the staircase and discovers a video camera upon that floor in which David Woods’ body should have been.
