Farooq Sheikh, Deepti Naval, Rakesh Bedi, Ravi Baswani, as well as Saeed Jaffrey appear in the 1981 Bollywood comedy movie Chashme Buddoor. Gul Anand and his sister Jayshree Anand – Makhija financed the movie, which is directed by Sai Paranjpye. The storey revolves around three Delhi University students, Siddharth (Farooq Shaikh), Omi (Rakesh Bedi), and Jai (Ravi Baswani), who refuse to return home during summer break, and that a girl named Neha (Deepti Naval) enters their life. At Delhi University, Siddharth Parashar (Farooq Shaikh), Omkar “Omi” Sharma (Rakesh Bedi), and Jai “Jomo” Lakhanpal (Ravi Baswani) are great friends and housemates. Siddharth holds an M.A. in Economics and is working on his PhD. While Siddharth is a serious student who spends much of his time reading, his two buddies, Omi and Jomo, are more interested in chasing ladies or watching movies or dramas. The only thing they have in common is that they all smoke. Omi and Jomo come upon a newcomer to their area (Neha) and try to please her with their antics. Since both of them, nevertheless, abandon up after suffering humiliating incidents.

After a few days, Neha (Deepti Naval) shows up at their apartment as a Chamko washing powder salesgirl. As soon as Jomo and Omi saw her, they flee. Siddharth meets Neha for the first time, and they quickly fall in love. When his other two buddies find out, they plot to ruin their relationship and seek retribution for the girl’s shame. They first succeed in separating Siddharth and Neha, but later regret it when they discover that Siddharth has lost interest in their job and studies, and is likely to commit suicide. Finally, they make the decision to reunite the lovers.

Omi, Jomo, Siddharth, and Lallan Miyan are all involved in a parallel storyline (Saeed Jaffrey). Omi and Jomo buy smokes on credit from Lallan Miyan, a local merchant. However, because they are students, they do not pay their obligations, so Lallan Miyan seeks to track them down and collect their debts.

In Delhi, a wave of kidnappings (particularly of young girls) has begun. Omi and his pals, as well as Neha’s grandmother, plan to organise a false kidnapping and marriage one day. Unfortunately, she is taken by the actual gang, leaving the two stranded. The second half of the tale focuses on how they resolve her uncertainty. Chashme Buddoor is an entertaining classic film.
