Venkatesh’s AK 47 collects Rs 33.25 crore worldwide in 2 days
Venkatesh and Srinidhi Shetty's AK 47 earned Rs 33.25 crore worldwide in two days, with Telugu markets leading. The Monday hold is the real test.

Venkatesh Daggubati’s new family entertainer Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47 (AK 47) has logged a Rs 33.25 crore worldwide gross in its first two days, with the Telugu markets doing most of the heavy lifting.
Opening weekend starts slow for a big-ticket ride
The film opened at Rs 10.50 crore on day one and nudged up to Rs 11.75 crore on day two, taking its Indian cume to Rs 22.25 crore gross. The Telugu belt contributed more than Rs 18.15 crore, with Nizam and Andhra showing the strongest spikes. Karnataka added Rs 3 crore and the rest of India about Rs 1.10 crore. Internationally, the film grossed USD 1.15 million, pushing the two-day worldwide total to Rs 33.25 crore.
That is a workable opening for a star-driven comedy, but not a thunderous one for a big-budget film. Trade estimates suggest the first Indian weekend may land in the Rs 32 to 35 crore range. The real test begins Monday.
Why the hold matters more than the start
For an event film centred on Venkatesh’s family-man charm, the audience is not only the opening-day crowd. The film is positioned as a mix of comedy, family dynamics and action, with Venkatesh playing Chittibabu, a husband who goes house-hunting with his wife. That kind of premise usually grows through word of mouth if families show up over the weekend and into the weekdays.
A useful way to read this is the “second-weekend test” that trade watchers use: if a film with a modest start can hold its Monday number close to its Friday number, it signals that audiences outside the core fan base are recommending it. If it falls sharply, the distributor is left carrying a big budget with little cushion.
- Day one India: Rs 10.50 crore
- Day two India: Rs 11.75 crore
- Two-day India cume: Rs 22.25 crore
- Worldwide cume after two days: Rs 33.25 crore
What the audience is buying
Srinidhi Shetty stars opposite Venkatesh, and the ensemble includes Nara Rohith, Nivetha Pethuraj, Rao Ramesh, Satya, Brahmaji, Vennela Kishore and others. The film’s hook is house-hunting comedy through the eyes of a couple, with Chittibabu emerging as the ideal family man. That gives it broad family appeal, but it also means multiplex audiences and family turnout across the weekend will decide whether the numbers move from decent to safe.
For fans, the next 48 hours are the ones to watch: a strong Saturday–Sunday hold would put the film on a recovery path; a flat or falling trend would make profitability a steep climb.
