A $500M+ Horror Hit’s Uncut Version Gets a JioHotstar Date

Curry Barker’s indie horror phenomenon Obsession is getting the digital release fans have been asking for. JioHotstar has confirmed that Obsession: The Original Uncut Version will stream from October 30 at 7 pm in English and Hindi.

It arrives on The Peacock Hub, the platform’s dedicated horror vertical. The announcement closes months of curiosity around footage that was left out of the theatrical cut.

What the film is about

At the centre of the story is Bear, played by Michael Johnston, who comes into possession of a supernatural object called the One Wish Willow. He uses it to make his friend Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette, fall in love with him. The wish quickly moves from fantasy to something far darker.

Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless and Andy Richter round out the supporting cast.

Why the uncut version matters

Several more violent, uncensored scenes that were reportedly excluded from the theatrical version leaked online months ago. Those clips went viral and gave fans an unofficial look at what had been trimmed before release.

The streamer’s announcement said: “Obsession: The Original Uncut Version, streaming 30th October, 7pm onwards on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar. Available in English and Hindi.”

Written, directed and edited by Barker, Obsession was made for a reported $750,000. After its September 5, 2025 premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and its May 29, 2026 Indian theatrical release, it has become a major independent horror success, with worldwide earnings above $500 million.
