Who can sing higher Mariah Carey or Ariana Grande?

by Ratan Srivastava
Mariah Carey

Listeners couldn’t help noticing that Ariana Grande’s popular single, The Way, used to have a remarkable resemblance to the one and only Mariah Carey. She was able to achieve those legendary high notes, imitating her wonderful whistle sound, and be labelled a real diva all at the same time.

Despite their similarities, the two were supposed to be involved in a bitter quarrel, prompting the internet and celebrities such as Demi Lovato to regularly pit them against each other in memes

Mimi’s impact on Ariana is undeniable, ladies and gentlemen, in case you hadn’t noticed. We’ve even started to believe that Ariana Grande is the new Mariah Carey. So, in order to help Mimi and Ari’s fans decide, we’ve compiled a list of ways the two vocalists compare. Let the battle between Mariah Carey as well as Ariana Grande commence!

We’re delighted Mimi’s legacy of high notes is being carried on by someone. Or, at the very least, attempting to.

Mariah Carey and is without a doubt the queen of high notes preceding Ariana Grande’s rise to fame. No one could match her vocal powers only until Thank U, Next singer came along and stole Mariah’s crown, wowing everyone with her incredible whistle tone as well as vocal range. It’d be difficult to tell the difference between the two if you had to play a game of “guess the whistle tone.”

Ariana Grande may be a master impersonator of Celine Dion as well as Britney Spears, however, when it comes to Mariah Carey, she doesn’t just sound like her; she sounds exactly like her. The parallels between Mimi and Ari would not have developed in the first place if it wasn’t for their comparable singing tones.

However, as per Chris Ringgold, a Quora user, there are minor distinctions in their vocals. While Mariah can sing in both a deep alto and a high-pitched soprano, Ariana “mainly sings soprano.” Many people also have issues with Ariana’s enunciation in songs.

Have you seen Ariana Grande’s rendition of Mariah Carey’s classic, Emotions? Despite having apparently less vocal ability than Mariah, she still amazes me with how well she matches her pitch, tone, and volume.
