The movie recently completed its 25th Anniversary in 2020. The 1995 classic is widely considered the golden standard for Bollywood rom-com, featuring a cheeky superstar Shah Rukh Khan also known as ‘King of Bollywood’ and starlet Kajol as two young people who fall in love on a backpacking trip across Europe. Waao, what a movie to watch.

The film’s plot revolves around two lead characters Raj and Simran. The two young non-resident Indians, who fall in love during a vacation through Europe with their friends. After being mischievous at first Raj afterward tries to win over Simran’s family so the couple can marry, but Simran’s father has long since promised her hand to his friend’s son. The film was shot in India, London, and Switzerland.

The Earning of the movie was ₹1.06 billion in India and ₹160 million overseas, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year 1995. Considered one of the most successful Indian films in the history of Indian Cinema. It received a lot of awards and appreciation and the highlight was that the film received 10 Filmfare Awards (the most for a single film at that time). It won a National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The movie’s soundtrack and background score is still considered as one of the best to date.
