Javed Akhtar, a poet, lyricist, screenwriter, as well as political activist from India, was born on January 17, 1945. He earned the Padma Shri in 1999 as well as the Padma Bhushan in 2007, two among India’s highest civilian honours, for his contribution to Hindi movies.

In the team Salim–Javed, Akhtar rose to prominence, although with the film Zanjeer in 1973, he made his screenwriting debut. He then went further to compose the movies Deewar and Sholay, both of which were released in 1975 and gained cult status as well as having a huge cultural effect.

He went on to win the National Film Award for Best Lyrics 5 times and also the Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist 8 times for their achievements as a lyricist.

Akhtar had been a member of the Rajya Sabha and campaigned for said Communist Party of India (CPI) as its candidate inside the 2019 Indian general election. He won the Richard Dawkins Award in 2020 recognizing his efforts, and he has been recognized as just a recipient of the Richard Dawkins Award.

Early Life-

Javed Akhtar was born in Gwalior in 1945. Jan Nisar Akhtar, his father, was a Bollywood movie composer and Urdu poet. His grandpa, Muztar Khairabadi, was a poet, as it was his grandpa’s older brother, Bismil Khairabadi, and his great great grandfather, Fazl-e-Haq Khairabadi, had been an Islamic scholar and theologian who was a key figure in India’s First Independence Campaign in 1857. Javed Akhtar’s first name was Jadoo, which was inspired by a passage in poetry penned by their dad, “Lamha, lamha kisi jadoo ka fasana hoga.” Javed was chosen as his formal name because it was the most similar to the term jadoo.

Akhtar wedded Shabana Azmi, the daughter of Kaifi Azmi, an Urdu poet, and divorced Irani later. Asrar-ul-Haq “Majaz,” Akhtar’s uncle, was another well-known Urdu poet. Ansar Harvani, his uncle, had been an elected Participant of Parliament as well as a member of the Indian independence movement. Hamida Salim, Akhtar’s aunt, had been an Indian novelist, economist, as well as educator.
