Vijay and Rashmika’s Team Files Cyber Crime Complaint

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's team has filed a cyber crime complaint in Hyderabad over fake claims and online harassment after Koffee With Karan.

Vijay-Rashmika Team Seeks Cyber Crime Probe After KWK Backlash

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are no longer just asking for the online chatter to stop. Their team has taken the backlash around their Koffee With Karan Season 9 appearance to the cyber crime authorities in Hyderabad, filing a formal complaint that asks for a forensic look at content the team claims was fabricated, manipulated or designed to harass.

A cyber crime complaint is a formal request asking law enforcement to examine specific online conduct. In this case, the team is not asking for a standalone defamation case; it is asking investigators to verify whether particular posts contain falsehoods, impersonation or doctored material.

The complaint was submitted by P. Nishanth Kumar, described as the manager of both actors. The team says it has handed over links and supporting evidence and wants an impartial, evidence-led examination of specific online posts and digital material.

What the complaint asks the authorities to check

The submission does not ask for a blanket takedown of criticism. Instead, it lists categories of content the team wants verified against primary material:

  • Materially false factual claims attributed to the actors
  • Fabricated quotations, screenshots or altered images and videos
  • Impersonation and false attribution
  • Posts presenting a breakup, separation or divorce as fact

The representation also says no finding of wrongdoing should be presumed against any individual or account at this stage. Each post, repost or amplification can be examined on its own merits, and appropriate legal remedies will be pursued where warranted.

Why a Koffee episode turned into a legal complaint

The complaint follows the couple’s joint appearance on Koffee With Karan Season 9. In the episode, Vijay recalled that Rashmika expressed her feelings first, and said he had asked her to ask him “100 times” before he agreed. Rashmika explained that the remark should be read in the context of the time they took to understand each other before committing.

Clips of that exchange — and older interviews and promotional material — were recirculated with new commentary. Some users read their body language and remarks critically, and details of their social media activity became part of the debate. In response, Vijay posted that the couple were “gloriously happy”, while Rashmika defended the relationship and the context of his comment.

The new complaint moves the matter from comment sections to a formal legal process. No conclusion has been reached against any account.

What it means for fans and followers

This is part of a broader shift: more public figures are asking authorities to distinguish between opinion and materially false or manipulated content. For viewers, the practical line is clear — sharing an unverified screenshot or a “breakup confirmed” post can become evidence in a legal complaint if it turns out to be fabricated.

The team has clarified that its request is not aimed at silencing genuine criticism or free speech. It is asking for accountability only where content may cross into unlawful territory, such as impersonation, doctored media or false factual claims. Until the authorities examine the material, the safe approach is to wait for official statements and not treat speculation as established fact.
