Shahid Kapoor has every cause to smile these days, thanks to the success of his most recent film, Jersey. In this Bollywood version of the National Award-winning Telugu sports drama, the actor was seen playing a cricketer. Jersey, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, has received acclaim from critics and audiences alike, with everyone praising Shahid’s performance. Shahid recently discussed how he connected with Jersey on a human level, saying that he bonded more often with Misha while filming the film.
Shahid told the Bombay Times that he felt protective toward his daughter as if he was living his life through her, being there for her and not allowing her to be influenced by anything that happened in his life. “When I saw the original, I felt it was extremely inspiring. It makes you feel motivated and elevated. You feel ki main apne bacche ki nazron mein khud ko ek katra bhi kam nahi hone de sakta… It all begins as a self-oriented journey of trying to prove what you are capable of as an artiste, but with time, you realise that it’s nothing if you don’t represent it. As a parent, you have to represent all that you want your child to work towards and inculcate. You have to lead by example,” he added.
Jersey also starred Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur, in addition to Shahid. Shahid’s first cooperation with Mrunal was in this film, and their chemistry was a hit.
