Tere Naam, starring Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla, was well-received by audiences. Salman’s style and persona in the film became cult favourites, and fans adored him. However, the director of the film, Satish Kaushik, believes that it cannot be replicated now since viewers’ tastes have evolved. It will be tough to make the same film and obtain the same performance from the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor, he added. In an interview with Indian Express, Satish Kaushik claimed that Salman Khan always thought the film was wonderful, but that his role sends out the incorrect message. Kabir Singh, he joked, was a modified version of Tere Naam. When asked about filming a sequel, Satish remarked that even if the film doesn’t appeal to today’s metropolitan audience, the condition in the hinterlands remains the same. However, he recognises that if he attempts to reproduce it, he bears some duty as a director. “As a filmmaker, your responsibility, whether you want to show such a love story or not, is a different issue altogether. One would definitely want to avoid that (today). You can’t fall in love with someone who’s said no to you. But that’s what passion was all about then, where you won’t take no from a person,” he said.
Satish Kaushik previously stated in an interview that he had a Tere Naam 2 script in his head, but that he has not discussed it with Salman Khan and that nothing has been completed.
