Orry Says Sara Ali Khan Vanished When He Needed Her
On Double Date, Orry says Sara Ali Khan didn't call him during a difficult phase and claims Amrita Singh never apologised. Here's the fallout.

Orhan Awatramani, better known as Orry, has once again opened up about his broken friendship with Sara Ali Khan, and this time he has given it a sharper label: a “fake friendship.”
Speaking to Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi on their show Double Date, Orry said the two were childhood friends who stayed close through college and for a decade after. He also claimed he stood by her during a difficult period in Goa when she was drawn into a big case.
What Orry said on Double Date
When asked to name the most famous person he had unfollowed, Orry named Sara Ali Khan. He said her mother had scolded him a lot, so he unfollowed her too.
Orry said he had stood by Sara when she needed support. But when his own difficult phase arrived, he says she vanished.
“When the tables flipped, and you had to be there with me for once, you couldn’t even give me a phone call,” Orry said.
He added that pretending the friendship was still fine would make the abuses he claims came from Sara’s mother, Amrita Singh, seem acceptable. “It’s not okay, and I never got an apology after that,” he said.
A fallout that started in August 2025
The public distance has been visible for over a year. The timeline looks like this:
- August 2025: Orry posts birthday pictures of Sara that some social media users find unflattering.
- Later: He shares a reel titled “3 worst names” naming “Sara”, “Amrita” and “Palak” without surnames.
- Soon after: Sara and her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan unfollow Orry on Instagram.
- January 2026: Orry tells Hindustan Times that an apology from Amrita Singh could help him move on.
In that earlier conversation with Hindustan Times, Orry had suggested the friendship could move forward only if he did not have to overlook what he claims happened because of Sara’s mother. “If Amrita Singh were to apologise, I could maybe see myself letting it go in the future,” he said at the time.
Why it matters now
Orry’s version turns a string of ambiguous Instagram moves into something easier to follow. Fans first noticed the distance through birthdays, reels and unfollows. Now he has named the person, the moment and the apology he says is missing.
This is a rare moment where Orry has laid out exactly what he says broke the friendship and what he would need to repair it. For fans who follow Bollywood friendships as closely as film releases, it adds clarity to months of speculation.
What could happen next
Orry left the door slightly open in January, saying an apology from Amrita Singh could help him let go in future. On Double Date, he did not retract that. He made the condition sound simple, but so far he says the apology has not come.
Until that changes, fans will likely keep watching the follow lists and the tags. In this corner of celebrity culture, an unfollow is rarely just an unfollow.
