Mumbai: Mitakshara Kumar has made her directorial debut with The Empire, which she can’t wait to release. She says that she never treated a historical web series like a show, as it is like cinema for her.

Talking about the show Mitakshara said, “When I got The Empire, its scale was so big that I never considered it as a show. For me, it was like cinema and that’s how we shot it. We have paid attention to every minute. I hope The Empire is an experience that people will not forget.”

The Empire is a fictional story about a warrior-turned-king, based on the books by two authors, Diana Preston, and her husband, Michael Preston, nicknamed Alex Rutherford. It stars Kunal Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Dino Morea, Rishi Dhami, and others.

The eight-episode series has been shot in multiple locations in India and Uzbekistan.

Speaking about the shooting experience, she said, “We had a lot of references to be done in Uzbekistan, so we went there three times. The colors he has used and its architecture are very different. Our show tells the stories of many years, so there is a different color palette for every stage in the show.”

Directed by Mitakshara Kumar and produced by Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani, The Empire will release on August 27 on Disney Plus Hotstar.
